Ascension LLC is seeking a highly skilled Technical Writer / Editor to support the development of high-quality learning and training materials that enable workforce development, knowledge transfer, and mission readiness. This role is critical to translating complex program requirements, policies, and procedures into clear, engaging, and instructionally sound content for facilitators and learners.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented communicator and instructional content developer who thrives at the intersection of technical writing, adult learning, and curriculum design. This individual will play a key role in ensuring that training materials such as facilitator guides, participant workbooks, slides, and job aids are accurate, consistent, and aligned with learning objectives and organizational goals.
This position directly supports Ascension’s Training and Development Services, including curriculum design, training facilitation support, and virtual learning environments .
Position Summary
The Technical Writer / Editor will be responsible for designing, writing, editing, and standardizing instructional and training content to support leadership development, workforce training, and program implementation efforts.
This role requires an individual who can:
- Translate complex concepts into clear, concise, and engaging instructional materials
- Collaborate with SMEs, facilitators, and program managers to ensure content accuracy and alignment
- Apply adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies
- Ensure consistency in tone, formatting, branding, and accessibility (including Section 508 compliance)
The ideal candidate is:
- Self-driven and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple deliverables
- Comfortable working in ambiguous environments with evolving requirements
- Skilled at anticipating gaps in content and proactively developing solutions
- Experienced in using tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud, and eLearning platforms
Key Responsibilities / Day-to-Day Activities
- Develop facilitator guides, participant workbooks, job aids, and presentation materials
- Edit and standardize training content for clarity, grammar, consistency, and instructional quality
- Collaborate with SMEs and stakeholders to translate technical and policy content into training materials
- Align content with learning objectives, competencies, and program goals
- Apply instructional design principles (ADDIE or similar frameworks) to content development
- Create and maintain content templates, style guides, and documentation standards
- Support development of virtual and in-person training materials
- Ensure compliance with Section 508 accessibility standards
- Conduct quality assurance reviews of all deliverables prior to submission
- Incorporate feedback from stakeholders and training evaluations into content revisions
- Support version control and content management processes
- Assist in development of multimedia learning assets (infographics, visuals, videos) as needed
