Ascension is seeking a Technical Writer & Digital Content Specialist to support a mission-critical Department of Defense enterprise modernization initiative focused on transforming legacy document management capabilities into a secure, cloud-enabled Enterprise Document Management Platform.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented documentation professional who understands how to translate complex technical concepts, business processes, and system capabilities into clear, accurate, user-focused documentation. This individual will support the development, maintenance, and improvement of enterprise documentation, knowledge repositories, technical materials, process documentation, user guides, reports, and digital communication products supporting a large-scale document modernization effort.
The successful candidate will bring strong writing, editing, information organization, and digital content management skills combined with the ability to collaborate with technical teams, business stakeholders, analysts, and program leadership. The candidate should be comfortable working in a dynamic environment supporting cloud modernization, document management, knowledge management, and enterprise transformation initiatives.

Summary of the Contractor Role
The Technical Writer & Digital Content Specialist will provide documentation, knowledge management, and digital content support for an enterprise document management modernization effort. The role supports the development and maintenance of technical documentation, operational procedures, user guides, training materials, system documentation, reports, and communication products required to support enterprise adoption.
The contractor will help ensure that documentation accurately reflects evolving system capabilities, business processes, workflows, security requirements, and user needs. The position requires the ability to gather information from subject matter experts, analyze technical materials, organize complex information, and produce clear documentation suitable for technical teams, business users, and leadership audiences.

Position Day-to-Day Activities
The contractor will:
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, user guides, operating procedures, manuals, and reference materials supporting enterprise systems and business processes.
- Gather, analyze, and document information from technical teams, program managers, system owners, and subject matter experts.
- Translate complex technical information into clear, understandable documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), process workflows, job aids, quick reference guides, and knowledge management materials.
- Review existing documentation to identify outdated content, inconsistencies, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
- Support documentation associated with enterprise document management workflows, metadata structures, indexing processes, and records management activities.
- Develop digital content including presentations, briefing materials, reports, templates, newsletters, and communications products.
- Assist with SharePoint and knowledge repository content management activities, including organizing libraries, updating pages, and maintaining document structures.
- Coordinate document reviews with stakeholders and incorporate feedback into final deliverables.
- Apply document control practices including version management, formatting standards, and quality reviews.
- Support development of training materials and user adoption resources for new systems and processes.
- Ensure documentation products meet organizational standards, accessibility requirements, and government documentation guidelines.
- Collaborate with program managers, analysts, developers, and business users to ensure documentation supports mission requirements.
