Junior Contract Analyst 2026P-0698
Ascension is seeking Junior Contract Analysts to support the Defense Health Agency’s Directorate of Resource Management and Contract Support operations at A.T. Augusta Military Medical Center.
This position is well suited for an early-career federal acquisition professional who already possesses practical experience supporting the Federal acquisition lifecycle and wants to deepen their expertise in Department of Defense and DHA procurement.
The ideal candidate understands that successful acquisition support involves considerably more than preparing documents. The individual must be able to work with program managers, Contracting Officer’s Representatives (CORs), division leadership, contracting personnel, and other customers to translate operational needs into complete, accurate, compliant, and procurement-ready requirements packages.
Ascension is seeking someone who is:
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Comfortable managing multiple acquisition actions and competing deadlines.
- Able to work independently after receiving an assignment.
- Proactive in identifying missing information or documentation.
- Comfortable communicating with senior personnel and customers.
- Skilled at researching regulations and translating requirements into practical actions.
- Able to recognize acquisition risks before a package reaches the contracting office.
- Professional, responsive, and comfortable working in a highly regulated Federal healthcare environment.
- Capable of explaining acquisition procedures to personnel who may not be acquisition professionals.
This role directly supports ATAMMC’s ability to obtain the healthcare and non-healthcare supplies and services necessary to accomplish its mission.
Summary of the Contractor Role
The Junior Contract Analyst provides hands-on acquisition and contract-management support throughout the procurement lifecycle.
The analyst will develop, review, coordinate, track, and maintain acquisition documentation in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), DHA requirements, DoD supplements, policies, directives, and instructions.
The position supports both acquisition professionals and program customers. Responsibilities include helping customers develop requirements, preparing pre-award documentation, reviewing procurement packages, supporting CORs and program managers, tracking acquisition actions, preparing recurring status reports, providing acquisition guidance, and conducting training or educational briefings.
The Government expects the analyst to perform most work independently in a non-managerial capacity, exercise judgment in determining how assignments will be accomplished, prioritize workload, and make recommendations regarding acquisition strategies.
What You Will Help the Customer Accomplish
The successful candidate will help ATAMMC improve the completeness, accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of procurement actions before they are submitted to the contracting office.
You will help the customer:
- Convert operational requirements into acquisition-ready procurement packages.
- Reduce incomplete or deficient package submissions.
- Maintain visibility into active and outstanding contract actions.
- Navigate DHA and DoD acquisition procedures.
- Develop compliant Performance Work Statements and related procurement documents.
- Educate CORs and program personnel concerning acquisition responsibilities.
- Maintain current acquisition documentation and templates.
- Coordinate requirements across program offices and contracting personnel.
- Identify documentation, compliance, schedule, credential, and security issues before they delay an acquisition.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
The Junior Contract Analyst will:
- PREPARE compliant pre-award and post-award acquisition and contractual documentation in accordance with FAR, DFARS, DHA, DoD policies, supplements, directives, and instructions.
- DEVELOP Performance Work Statements (PWSs), requirements documentation, and other supporting materials for pre-award procurement packages.
- ASSIST Department Directors, program personnel, and the Contracting Office in developing complete acquisition requirements packages.
- REVIEW procurement documentation for completeness, accuracy, regulatory compliance, and readiness for submission.
- GENERATE and maintain required forms, acquisition documents, templates, trackers, and supporting files.
- UPDATE acquisition documentation when policies, templates, requirements, or procurement strategies change.
- TRACK active, pending, and outstanding acquisition and contracting actions.
- PREPARE monthly acquisition status reports for the ATAMMC Contract Support Service Chief and COR.
- COORDINATE with Division Directors and other stakeholders to clarify and properly develop procurement requirements.
- SUPPORT healthcare and non-healthcare acquisitions throughout the requirements-development process.
- RESEARCH Federal, DoD, DHA, and local procurement regulations, policies, directives, and procedures.
- REVIEW applicable solicitation and contract clauses and provisions.
- APPLY fact-finding and analytical techniques to investigate acquisition issues and recommend practical corrective actions.
- SUPPORT price and cost analysis activities using historical information, estimated expenditures, established rates, and other available supporting data.
- ADVISE program managers and CORs concerning acquisition processes, documentation, milestones, and programmatic requirements.
- ATTEND meetings as an acquisition subject matter resource supporting PMs, CORs, customers, and organizational leadership.
- CONDUCT acquisition-related training and educational briefings for personnel requesting contracting support.
- EDUCATE new and secondary-duty CORs concerning requirements-package preparation and submission procedures.
- COORDINATE training, education, and acquisition correspondence with DHA Procurement Support.
- MONITOR contract-employee credential and security requirements when assigned.
- IDENTIFY incomplete documentation, approaching milestones, compliance concerns, and other issues that could delay procurement.
- PRIORITIZE multiple acquisition actions independently while escalating significant issues appropriately.
