Ascension LLC is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Graphic/Web Designer to support transportation planning initiatives by transforming complex technical information into clear, engaging, and accessible visual content. This role is critical to ensuring that transportation policies, planning studies, and program updates are effectively communicated to stakeholders, decision-makers, and the public.

The ideal candidate is a visually driven communicator who thrives at the intersection of design, storytelling, and public engagement, with the ability to translate data and planning concepts into compelling graphics, web content, and outreach materials. This individual will play a key role in supporting public outreach campaigns, stakeholder engagement efforts, and program communications, directly contributing to informed decision-making and community awareness.

This position aligns with Ascension’s experience supporting federal agencies such as DHS and FEMA, where we develop communication products, dashboards, training materials, and stakeholder-facing deliverables to enhance program transparency and engagement.


Position Summary

The Graphic/Web Designer will provide professional-level creative and technical design support for transportation planning and program delivery efforts. This includes developing high-quality graphics for reports, presentations, websites, and outreach campaigns that communicate transportation initiatives to both technical and non-technical audiences.

The designer will leverage tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud, web content management systems, and data visualization tools to develop visually compelling and accessible content.


Key Responsibilities / Day-to-Day Activities

  • Design visually compelling graphics, infographics, and layouts for transportation reports, studies, and presentations
  • Develop brochures, newsletters, and outreach materials to support public engagement campaigns
  • Create and maintain web content, including updates to webpages and digital communication platforms
  • Translate technical transportation planning data into clear, user-friendly visual formats
  • Support social media and digital outreach initiatives through branded visual content
  • Collaborate with planners, engineers, and project managers to ensure accuracy and consistency of messaging
  • Prepare materials for public meetings, workshops, and stakeholder briefings
  • Ensure all materials meet accessibility standards, including Section 508 compliance where applicable
  • Maintain brand consistency across all communication products and platforms
  • Edit and refine graphics based on stakeholder feedback and evolving project requirements
  • Coordinate with communications teams to align design outputs with outreach strategies
  • Manage multiple design deliverables simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines
