Ascension LLC is seeking a highly analytical, detail-oriented, and mission-focused Financial Analyst to support the United States Attorney’s Office (USAO), Northern District of California, in San Francisco. This role directly supports Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) and Financial Litigation Program (FLP) personnel through financial analysis, reporting, reconciliation, operational support, and data-driven decision-making activities supporting Federal litigation and financial operations.

The ideal candidate is a self-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced Federal law enforcement and litigation support environment. The successful candidate should possess strong financial analytical skills, excellent judgment, and the ability to work independently with minimal oversight while supporting mission-critical DOJ activities.

This position is ideal for candidates with prior Federal financial management, investigative analysis, auditing, litigation support, accounting, or law enforcement operational support experience. Candidates should demonstrate strong Excel/database capabilities, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to synthesize complex financial information into actionable reports and briefing materials.

Ascension is particularly interested in candidates located in California, preferably within the San Francisco Bay Area or broader Pacific Time Zone, to support customer collaboration and potential onsite engagements.


Position Summary

The Financial Analyst will provide comprehensive financial analysis and operational support services to the USAO Northern District of California in support of litigation, financial management, reporting, budgeting, reconciliation, and analytical activities. The contractor will support the Financial Litigation Program (FLP) and Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) by reviewing financial records, validating financial data, developing reports and spreadsheets, tracking financial metrics, and supporting operational coordination activities.

The candidate will be expected to operate in a highly professional Federal environment where accuracy, confidentiality, responsiveness, and analytical rigor are critical to mission success. The role requires someone capable of balancing multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and producing high-quality work products under tight deadlines.

The successful candidate should demonstrate the ability to:

  • Conduct financial reconciliations and data validation

Day-to-Day Activities

The Financial Analyst may perform the following activities:

  • Perform financial analysis and reporting support for Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) and Financial Litigation Program personnel
  • Review and analyze financial statements, tax records, bank records, datasets, escrow documentation, and supporting materials
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports, spreadsheets, summaries, dashboards, and briefing materials
  • Track financial metrics, obligations, expenditures, and operational data
  • Conduct data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance reviews
  • Maintain financial trackers, logs, records, and supporting documentation
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
  • Assist with identifying operational process improvement opportunities
  • Develop charts, graphs, tables, and analytical visualizations to support Government decision-making
  • Prepare meeting materials, presentations, analytical summaries, and executive briefings
  • Coordinate with Government personnel regarding information requests and operational activities
  • Support document management and records organization activities
  • Research financial data and compile findings into actionable recommendations
  • Monitor project milestones, reporting timelines, and deliverable schedules
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, and related analytical tools to support operations
  • Support stakeholder meetings and capture meeting notes and action items as required
  • Ensure compliance with DOJ operational procedures and confidentiality requirements
