Digital Transformation & Collaboration Specialist 2026P-0703
Ascension is seeking a Digital Transformation & Collaboration Specialist to help modernize how Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) Navy Fitness personnel deliver services, share knowledge, collaborate across organizations, and support Human Performance Optimization (HPO) programs.
The specialist will assess digital tools, collaboration platforms, virtual-delivery environments, and technology-adoption requirements supporting the Navy’s transition from a traditional fitness model to an integrated HPO framework.
The ideal candidate combines digital-transformation consulting, business analysis, Microsoft 365 collaboration, Power Platform, process improvement, accessibility, cybersecurity awareness, and user-adoption experience. Ascension is particularly interested in candidates who can translate operational needs into practical technology recommendations without promoting technology for its own sake.
This opportunity is well suited for a self-driven, analytical, and collaborative professional who can work effectively in an evolving environment, engage technical and nontechnical stakeholders, evaluate alternative technologies, and communicate clear recommendations to leadership.
Position Summary
The Digital Transformation & Collaboration Specialist will support the assessment, planning, and adoption of advanced digital tools, applications, shared platforms, and virtual-delivery methods across Navy Fitness and HPO operations.
The specialist will examine current processes and technology capabilities; identify gaps, duplication, and opportunities for improvement; and recommend secure, accessible, scalable, and user-centered solutions. Areas of focus may include Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint Online, Power Platform, workflow automation, virtual training and engagement platforms, knowledge-management solutions, communities of practice, data collection tools, dashboards, and emerging artificial intelligence or machine-learning applications.
The specialist will help the customer determine which tools and processes can improve workforce capability, program reach, collaboration, knowledge exchange, decision-making, and productivity. The role will also support change management, accessibility, training, governance, and adoption planning so that approved solutions can be incorporated effectively into daily operations.
This is primarily an assessment, requirements, recommendation, and adoption-support role. It is not intended to function solely as a software developer or system administrator. The successful candidate must be able to connect technology decisions to operational outcomes, including improved service delivery, user adoption, collaboration, accessibility, security, and Warfighter readiness.
Anticipated Day-to-Day Activities
The Digital Transformation & Collaboration Specialist will:
- Assess the customer’s existing digital tools, collaboration platforms, virtual-delivery capabilities, workflows, and technology environment.
- Conduct stakeholder interviews, discovery sessions, workshops, surveys, and document reviews to understand operational needs and user challenges.
- Document current-state processes, system interactions, technology dependencies, information flows, user groups, pain points, and capability gaps.
- Translate operational and HPO program needs into clear business, functional, technical, data, accessibility, privacy, and security requirements.
- Evaluate Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint Online, Power Platform, workflow automation, knowledge-management, virtual-training, and shared-application capabilities.
- Research emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, automation, advanced analytics, and immersive virtual platforms.
- Analyze whether proposed technology solutions are practical, secure, accessible, scalable, interoperable, and appropriate for Navy Fitness operations.
- Develop alternatives analyses, capability comparisons, decision matrices, technology roadmaps, and implementation recommendations.
- Recommend digital tools and processes that improve collaboration, knowledge sharing, workforce productivity, virtual service delivery, and program reach.
- Design concepts for collaboration portals, shared workspaces, communities of practice, knowledge repositories, automated workflows, dashboards, and virtual-delivery environments.
- Support requirements for technology-enabled facility access, space-utilization analysis, and operational decision-making when assigned.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive activities, reduce manual reporting, improve information accessibility, and streamline business processes.
- Apply user-centered and inclusive-design practices to support individuals with disabilities and diverse user populations.
- Incorporate Section 508 accessibility considerations into technology assessments, requirements, recommendations, and solution reviews.
- Coordinate with HPO subject-matter experts, program managers, trainers, analysts, change-management personnel, IT stakeholders, cybersecurity personnel, and government leadership.
- Develop data-collection, reporting, and performance-measurement concepts that help evaluate technology adoption and operational effectiveness.
- Define meaningful measures such as adoption, participation, accessibility, process efficiency, platform utilization, user satisfaction, and service reach.
- Support privacy, information security, role-based access, records-management, data-governance, and responsible-AI considerations.
- Facilitate demonstrations, design sessions, pilot planning, user-acceptance activities, and feedback sessions.
- Prepare implementation roadmaps, standard operating procedures, governance recommendations, user guides, training materials, and executive briefings.
- Support change-impact assessments, communications, training, rollout planning, and other activities needed to encourage sustained adoption.
- Monitor risks, issues, dependencies, stakeholder decisions, and action items associated with technology initiatives.
- Present findings and recommendations clearly to technical personnel, operational users, program leadership, and executive stakeholders.
- Maintain organized, accurate, and version-controlled documentation throughout the engagement.
Tools and Processes the Candidate May Use
The candidate should be capable of working with or evaluating:
- Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and related collaboration tools
- Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Forms
- Virtual meeting, training, webinar, and learning-delivery platforms
- Workflow-mapping and visualization tools such as Microsoft Visio or equivalent
