This role is mission-critical to supporting U.S. Air Force operations by enabling timely procurement of supplies, services, and construction. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented acquisition professional who thrives in a structured regulatory environment, understands Air Force acquisition policy, and can independently manage multiple contract actions from market research through closeout.
This position is best suited for acquisition professionals who:
- Possess strong FAR expertise
- Have executed pre-award and post-award federal contract actions
- Can operate independently in a remote environment
- Are comfortable supporting high operational tempo organizations
- Understand the difference between support and inherently governmental functions
Summary of the Contractor Role
This position provides direct acquisition lifecycle support to the United States Air Force (USAF), 18th Wing, 18th Contracting Squadron (18 CONS) located in Okinawa, Japan.
The 18th Contracting Squadron is responsible for executing a broad range of acquisition services that enable the 18th Wing to accomplish its operational mission. This role exists specifically to support the growing acquisition workload within 18 CONS, ensuring timely and compliant procurement of supplies, services, and construction requirements in accordance with Air Force acquisition policies, executive orders, organizational-level work instructions, and the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
This is a non-personal services position. The Contract Specialist will provide professional acquisition support substantially equivalent to a GS-12, 1102 skill set, while strictly avoiding inherently governmental functions such as obligating funds or executing contractual documents.

- Solicitation development (RFQs, RFPs, IFBs)
- Cost and price analysis
- Source selection documentation
- Contract award package preparation
- Post-award administration support
