Ascension, LLC is seeking an experienced Compliance, Audit and Program Integrity Specialist to support compliance oversight, internal controls assessments, audit readiness, and program integrity initiatives for the Delaware Division of Public Health (DPH).

The ideal candidate brings demonstrated expertise in public-sector compliance, audit coordination, regulatory and policy analysis, governance, risk assessment, and corrective action management. This professional will help government program managers identify compliance gaps, evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, prepare for audits, and implement practical recommendations that strengthen accountability and operational performance.

We are particularly interested in professionals who have supported federal, state, or local government agencies; public health programs; healthcare organizations; or publicly funded initiatives that operate under complex regulatory and funding requirements.

The successful candidate must be analytical, organized, independent, and capable of evaluating policies, processes, and supporting documentation to determine whether established requirements are consistently followed.

This position is well suited for an experienced compliance analyst, internal auditor, program integrity specialist, risk management professional, or public-sector consultant seeking a flexible, part-time consulting engagement.

Summary of the Contractor Role

The Compliance, Audit and Program Integrity Specialist provides independent compliance assessments and targeted audit-readiness support to strengthen governance, internal controls, accountability, and overall program integrity across DPH-supported initiatives.

The contractor will review applicable policies, procedures, operational processes, compliance records, and supporting documentation to identify weaknesses, assess regulatory and procedural adherence, and recommend corrective actions.

The specialist will assist government program personnel in preparing for internal and external audits by organizing evidence, documenting findings, assessing control effectiveness, and tracking remediation activities.

Responsibilities may include reviewing compliance with applicable federal and state requirements, internal operating procedures, grant-related controls, reporting obligations, and established program governance practices.

The successful candidate is expected to work independently with minimal supervision, exercise sound professional judgment, maintain strict confidentiality, and communicate complex findings clearly to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

Because this is a part-time consulting engagement averaging approximately 30 hours per month, the contractor must effectively prioritize assessments, meet established milestones, and deliver concise, actionable work products within limited labor hours.

The overarching objective is to help DPH maintain audit readiness, detect and address compliance risks, and improve the effectiveness of internal controls and program oversight.
