Ascension is seeking a detail-oriented Documentation & Communications Specialist (Data Analytics Support) to support a federal data analytics and evaluation program focused on improving data governance, reporting, and decision-making capabilities. The ideal candidate combines strong technical writing, document development, data storytelling, and federal reporting experience to transform complex analytical findings into clear, accurate, accessible, and actionable communication products.

This position is critical to ensuring that government stakeholders can effectively understand, evaluate, and utilize data-driven insights through professionally developed reports, briefings, dashboards, presentations, knowledge products, and other communication materials.

The ideal candidate is a highly organized professional who can work independently in a dynamic federal consulting environment, manage multiple deliverables simultaneously, collaborate with analysts and subject matter experts, and ensure all products meet federal quality standards, including accessibility requirements.

Candidates should possess experience developing professional documentation, executive-level presentations, analytical reports, and communication materials in support of government programs, data initiatives, technology implementations, or organizational improvement efforts.


Summary of Contractor Role

The Documentation & Communications Specialist supports Ascension’s federal client by developing, editing, formatting, and managing high-quality documentation and communication products supporting data analytics, evaluation, and governance initiatives.

The specialist will translate technical information, analytical results, survey findings, and program assessments into clear reports, presentations, summaries, and decision-support materials for government leadership and stakeholders.

The role supports the preparation of federal reports, analytical summaries, governance documentation, and data dissemination products while ensuring compliance with Section 508 accessibility standards and organizational communication requirements.

The successful candidate will collaborate with data analysts, project managers, subject matter experts, and government stakeholders to produce accurate, visually effective, and accessible deliverables using tools such as Microsoft Office 365, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, and related reporting/documentation platforms.

Position Day-to-Day Activities

The Documentation & Communications Specialist will:

  • Develop technical documentation, analytical reports, executive summaries, and program deliverables supporting federal data initiatives.
  • Prepare, format, and edit reports, briefing materials, presentations, and communication products for government review and approval.
  • Translate complex analytical findings into clear narratives, visual summaries, and stakeholder-ready communication products.
  • Coordinate with analysts and subject matter experts to collect, validate, and organize content for deliverables.
  • Review documents for accuracy, consistency, grammar, formatting, and compliance with established style standards.
  • Apply Section 508 accessibility requirements when developing electronic documents, presentations, and communication products.
  • Develop tables, charts, graphics, and visual elements that improve understanding of analytical results.
  • Support data dissemination activities by preparing information products for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain document libraries, templates, version control, and knowledge management repositories.
  • Support preparation of meeting materials, agendas, minutes, action trackers, and governance documentation.
  • Assist with quality assurance reviews of reports and deliverables before government submission.
  • Coordinate document revisions based on stakeholder feedback and incorporate required updates.
  • Support development of PowerPoint briefings and executive-level presentations.
  • Ensure deliverables comply with federal documentation standards and accessibility requirements.

SUITABILITY/SECURITY REQUIREMENTAbility to obtain and maintain a Moderate Risk Public Trust (Tier 2 / 5C/5N) suitability determination if required by the government. | Must be able to complete required federal background investigation processes. | Must comply with federal information protection requirements, including handling of sensitive government information and personally identifiable information (PII).
