Ascension is seeking a technically skilled and solutions-oriented Technical Systems & Automation Specialist to support federal mission programs through the design, configuration, enhancement, and sustainment of business systems, workflow automation solutions, and collaborative technology platforms.

The ideal candidate will support customers in transforming manual processes into efficient digital workflows by leveraging Microsoft technologies, including SharePoint, Power Platform, Power Automate, Power Apps, and reporting tools. This role is critical in helping government organizations improve information management, automate recurring processes, enhance data visibility, and maintain reliable business systems that support mission execution.

Ascension is seeking an individual who can bridge the gap between business users and technical teams—someone who understands customer needs, translates requirements into technical solutions, configures systems, documents processes, and supports continuous improvement initiatives.

The successful candidate should be a proactive problem solver who enjoys working in dynamic environments, can independently manage priorities, and possesses the technical curiosity to identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, and system optimization.


Summary of Contractor Role

The Technical Systems & Automation Specialist will provide technical systems support, automation development, and business process improvement support to federal clients. The position will assist with designing, implementing, configuring, and maintaining technology solutions that improve operational effectiveness and information management.

The contractor will support activities such as SharePoint administration and development, Microsoft Power Platform solution development, workflow automation, system configuration, requirements analysis, technical documentation, testing, quality assurance, and user support.

This role supports Ascension’s mission of helping government organizations modernize business processes through practical technology solutions. The candidate will work closely with program managers, analysts, subject matter experts, and government stakeholders to develop solutions that improve data accessibility, reduce manual effort, and enhance decision-making.

The position supports requirements aligned to DHA Disability Evaluation System (DES) Support activities, including technical enablement, data systems support, information management, compliance monitoring, and system sustainment activities. The DHA requirement identifies the need for capabilities supporting program-related systems, reporting environments, data quality monitoring, and secure information management practices.


Position Responsibilities / Expected Activities

The Technical Systems & Automation Specialist will:

  • Configure, maintain, and enhance SharePoint sites, libraries, lists, workflows, permissions, and collaborative environments.
  • Design and implement workflow automation solutions using Microsoft Power Automate and Power Platform technologies.
  • Develop low-code/no-code applications using Microsoft Power Apps to support business operations.
  • Analyze existing business processes and identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and digital transformation.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications, system configurations, and implementation plans.
  • Support system enhancements, upgrades, testing, and deployment activities.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including system requirements, user guides, configuration documentation, and standard operating procedures.
  • Perform system troubleshooting and resolve technical issues affecting business applications.
  • Support data collection, validation, integration, and reporting activities across multiple systems.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and analytical tools using Microsoft reporting technologies.
  • Assist with quality assurance activities including test planning, user acceptance testing, validation, and defect resolution.
  • Monitor system performance, usage trends, and operational issues; recommend enhancements.
  • Implement approved system changes while maintaining configuration management practices.
  • Support compliance activities related to information management, security controls, and government technology standards.
  • Collaborate with business users, analysts, project managers, and technical teams to deliver mission-focused solutions.
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings, demonstrations, and technical briefings.

SUITABILITY/SECURITY REQUIREMENTAbility to obtain and maintain required government suitability determination. | Public Trust eligibility preferred. | Experience supporting environments requiring protection of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) is preferred. | Candidates must be able to comply with applicable government security policies and information handling requirements.
