Senior Data Governance / Enterprise Analyst 2026P-0477
Protect our Land, Ascend with Us!
Ascension is seeking a Senior Data Governance / Enterprise Analyst to support the Navy’s Information Technology Governance and Mission Support effort for Military Sealift Command N6. This role supports the governance, quality, availability, and compliance of C4/IT data, repositories, dashboards, workflows, and enterprise information management processes. The position is important because MSC N6 relies on accurate, secure, and well-governed data to support portfolio visibility, executive oversight, reporting, investment decisions, and compliance with DoD, DON, and MSC policies.
The ideal candidate is a senior-level data governance and enterprise analysis professional with strong experience developing governance frameworks, supporting data calls, improving data quality, creating policies and procedures, and translating complex mission and IT information into clear business requirements, dashboards, SOPs, reports, and leadership-ready decision products. The PWS specifically requires data repository maintenance, dashboards, data dictionaries, data standards, validation rules, governance controls, training, SOPs, and data maintenance reporting under Task Area 3. It also requires information management support, business process automation, data call coordination, policy and organizational support, and quality control under Task Area 5.
Summary of the Contractor Role
The Senior Data Governance / Enterprise Analyst will serve as a lead advisor responsible for helping MSC N6 strengthen the integrity, quality, consistency, availability, and reliability of organizational information. The role will support data management and governance across repositories, dashboards, workflows, applications, and related solutions used for C4/IT portfolio management and financial management. The analyst will help maintain data dictionaries, establish standards and validation rules, assess repository compliance, recommend process improvements, support workflow automation, and develop SOPs and training materials for data tools and processes.
This position requires a candidate who is organized, analytical, mission-focused, and comfortable working across technical, business, governance, and policy stakeholders. The analyst must be able to work independently in an environment where priorities may shift based on leadership needs, data calls, policy changes, dashboard updates, or compliance requirements. The role is expected to support approximately 200 annual data calls across task areas, develop or update policies and procedures, prepare leadership briefings, and interpret Federal, DoD, and DON directives.
Tools and Processes Needed
The role will likely require experience with:
Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams
Power Platform tools such as Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps, and Dataverse
Tableau or similar dashboard/reporting tools
Data dictionaries, data catalogs, metadata standards, validation rules, naming conventions, data quality rules, access controls, and version control
SOP development, governance charters, workflow documentation, QMS/MIC documentation, policy crosswalks, data call trackers, action item trackers, and executive briefing templates
DoD/DON policy interpretation, DoD Data Strategy alignment, and Government-approved repositories and dashboards
Expected Day-to-Day Activities
• Lead data governance support for MSC N6 repositories, dashboards, workflows, applications, and related solutions.
• Maintain data dictionaries, data standards, validation rules, naming conventions, authorized values, and required fields.
• Assess repository and dashboard health, data quality, access controls, performance, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, DoD policy, DON policy, and MSC Component policy.
• Generate monthly data maintenance inputs covering change logs, feature updates, completed maintenance activities, outages, data integrity issues, corrective actions, reliability, and data quality.
• Facilitate compliance assessments and recommend improvements for data management, workflow automation, data quality, and governance controls.
• Develop SOPs for new products and update SOPs when existing repositories, dashboards, workflows, or processes change.
• Coordinate with program managers, portfolio managers, financial management stakeholders, IT staff, and subject matter experts to gather, validate, and reconcile data.
• Support approximately 200 annual data calls by identifying, assessing, compiling, validating, and packaging data for leadership, DoD, Congressional, and other Government inquiries.
• Draft and update guidance for information collection, storage, availability, communication processes, charters, MOAs, MOUs, organizational charts, policies, and procedures.
• Prepare leadership-ready briefs, reports, official correspondence, decision packages, and analytical products.
• Support business process automation by identifying manual workflows and translating business needs into automated process requirements.
• Support training development for repositories, dashboards, workflows, and data governance processes.
• Apply quality control to ensure documentation, dashboards, reports, SOPs, and data products meet Government expectations and require minimal rework.
