Protect our Land, Ascend with Us!
Ascension is seeking an Operations Analyst / Junior Management Analyst to support a federal strategic communications modernization effort. This position is ideal for an early-career professional with strong research, documentation, coordination, and analytical skills who can help transform communications operations from manual, fragmented workflows into organized, measurable, and data-informed processes.
The selected candidate will support the client by conducting research, collecting and organizing information, preparing reports and briefing materials, supporting documentation, tracking actions, and assisting with performance measurement activities. This role is important because the client needs better visibility into communication workflows, campaign performance, stakeholder engagement, and adoption outcomes. The analyst will help the team maintain structure, reduce duplicative work, and provide timely information that supports leadership decisions.
Summary of Contractor Role
The Operations Analyst / Junior Management Analyst will provide operational, analytical, and documentation support across strategic communications, workflow improvement, performance reporting, and project coordination activities. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, organized, responsive, and comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where requirements may continue to evolve.
This role supports the customer’s need to modernize how communications work is planned, tracked, measured, and improved. The analyst will help gather information from meetings, tools, reports, subject matter experts, and data sources; organize that information into clear work products; and support the development of materials such as status updates, dashboards inputs, process documentation, communication trackers, briefing decks, research summaries, and performance reports.
The candidate should be self-driven, comfortable asking clarifying questions, able to manage multiple assignments, and capable of turning raw information into useful documentation. The role requires strong Microsoft 365 skills and the ability to support tools and processes such as editorial calendars, project trackers, action item logs, workflow maps, campaign performance trackers, SharePoint repositories, Teams collaboration spaces, Excel-based analysis, PowerPoint briefings, and basic Power BI or dashboard inputs.
Expected Day-to-Day Activities
- Support project and communications workflow tracking, including action items, due dates, status updates, risks, and dependencies.
- Conduct research on strategic communications, marketing tools, analytics practices, AI-supported communications, social media monitoring, and campaign management best practices.
- Collect, organize, and validate information from meetings, interviews, existing documents, spreadsheets, communication products, and client-provided data sources.
- Prepare draft reports, research summaries, briefing materials, meeting notes, decision logs, and presentation slides for Government and project team review.
- Assist with documenting current-state and future-state processes for communications planning, content development, editorial review, publication, campaign tracking, and performance reporting.
- Support the development and maintenance of project trackers, editorial calendars, communications product inventories, training trackers, and workflow documentation.
- Analyze basic data and identify trends, gaps, duplicative steps, bottlenecks, or opportunities to improve communications planning and reporting.
- Help prepare performance measurement inputs that connect communications activities to measurable outcomes, such as audience engagement, behavioral adoption, campaign reach, or stakeholder awareness.
- Coordinate with project managers, communications specialists, data analysts, trainers, and subject matter experts to gather updates and maintain accurate documentation.
- Support meeting facilitation by preparing agendas, capturing notes, tracking follow-up items, and distributing summaries.
- Assist with quality checks of documents, spreadsheets, dashboards, briefing decks, and communication support materials.
- Maintain organized files and version-controlled documentation in Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, or other approved Government systems.
- Contribute to lessons learned, process improvement recommendations, and knowledge transfer materials that help the client sustain new tools and practices.
