Ascension is seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst / Data Analytics Specialist to support a federal strategic communications and organizational transformation effort. This position is designed for a data-driven professional who can help a communications organization move from reactive reporting to proactive, measurable, insight-based decision-making.
The customer’s need is centered on improving how communication activities are planned, measured, reported, and connected to mission outcomes. The requirement specifically calls for advanced analytics and reporting that can connect communication efforts to measurable business outcomes, integrate external business data, and create dashboards that correlate campaign activity with behavioral adoption rates.
This role is important because the customer is trying to modernize strategic communications through better tools, integrated workflows, performance measurement, and skills development. The analyst will help transform raw data, campaign activity, audience behavior, workflow status, and performance indicators into clear insights that leadership can use to make decisions.
Summary of the Contractor Role
The Business Intelligence Analyst / Data Analytics Specialist will support data analysis, KPI development, dashboard creation, performance reporting, and decision-support activities for a strategic communications modernization effort. The ideal candidate will be analytical, organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with communications, program management, training, and technology stakeholders.
This role requires someone who can translate business questions into measurable analytic use cases, collect and integrate data from multiple sources, identify trends, build dashboards, and explain findings in a way that non-technical stakeholders can understand. Ascension’s GSA labor category for Business Data Analyst III includes analytical support for mission-oriented projects, data entry, aggregation, reporting, client interaction, workflow improvement, dashboards, and possible low-code/no-code automation.
The analyst should be self-driven, comfortable working in an evolving environment, and able to anticipate data quality issues, reporting gaps, workflow bottlenecks, and performance measurement risks. The customer’s problem statement identifies gaps in process/workflow, performance measurement, content/tools, and modern expertise, especially data analytics, AI integration, and strategic campaign management.
Anticipated Day-to-Day Activities
- Analyze campaign, communications, workflow, stakeholder, and business performance data to identify trends, risks, gaps, and opportunities.
- Develop dashboards, scorecards, KPI trackers, and visual reports that connect communications activity to measurable outcomes.
- Translate customer business questions into analytic requirements, data models, reporting logic, and decision-support products.
- Collect, clean, validate, and integrate data from internal and external sources to support reporting accuracy.
- Create executive-ready briefings, visuals, and narrative insights that explain data findings in plain language.
- Support the development of performance measurement frameworks for strategic communications campaigns and modernization initiatives.
- Maintain data trackers, reporting logs, dashboard update schedules, and documentation of assumptions, sources, definitions, and business rules.
- Identify workflow inefficiencies, duplicative reporting steps, and opportunities for automation or process improvement.
- Collaborate with project managers, communications specialists, training leads, and customer stakeholders to align analytics with mission needs.
- Support knowledge transfer by documenting reporting processes, dashboard use instructions, and repeatable analytic methods.
- Provide recommendations to improve data quality, dashboard usability, reporting cadence, and leadership visibility into performance.
- Participate in meetings, working sessions, and reviews to capture requirements, clarify metrics, and present findings.
