Ascension LLC is seeking a seasoned Senior Executive Advisor, Governance & Organizational Transformation to support a high-visibility Department of the Air Force organizational transformation effort. This part-time advisory role is ideal for a former senior military officer, SES-level advisor, executive consultant, partner-level management consultant, or senior acquisition leader with experience facilitating complex governance, alignment, and transformation discussions with senior Government stakeholders.

The selected advisor will provide executive facilitation, peer review, strategic advisory support, and quality assurance for leadership workshops, governance design sessions, milestone briefings, and final deliverables. This role requires strong executive presence, sound judgment, organizational transformation expertise, and the ability to help senior leaders address decision rights, accountability, governance friction, and mission execution challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate executive-level workshops, working groups, and leadership briefings.
  • Advise on governance design, decision rights, accountability, and escalation paths.
  • Support organizational transformation, target operating model, and change management activities.
  • Review governance frameworks, transformation roadmaps, playbooks, and executive briefing materials.
  • Provide senior-level insight on organizational alignment, conflict resolution, and mission execution improvement.
  • Identify risks, gaps, sensitivities, and leadership decision points.
  • Recommend improvements to workshop agendas, facilitation plans, and executive messaging.
  • Ensure all recommendations remain advisory and comply with Government decision-making boundaries.
  • Support quality review of final deliverables for clarity, credibility, and executive usability.

Minimum RequirementsBachelor’s degree in business, public administration, organizational development, management, engineering, national security, defense acquisition, human capital, or related field.| 10+ years of experience in executive advisory services, organizational transformation, governance design, strategic planning, defense acquisition, or federal program management.
Required SkillsAbility to work independently in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and mission-critical environment.| Ability to protect sensitive information and follow Government requirements for handling controlled or sensitive materials.
Technical SkillsExperience facilitating senior leaders, including General Officer, SES, C-suite, political appointee, or equivalent executive stakeholders. | Strong knowledge of governance models, decision rights, accountability structures, escalation pathways, and organizational change.| Experience supporting leadership workshops, executive briefings, strategic planning sessions, or transformation initiatives.| Excellent facilitation, communication, executive briefing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Desired SkillsMaster’s degree in business, organizational leadership, public administration, national security, defense acquisition, systems engineering, or related discipline.| Former senior military officer, former SES, retired federal executive, acquisition executive, PEO-level advisor, or partner-level consultant.| Experience supporting DoD, Department of the Air Force, Air Force Materiel Command, AFNWC, nuclear enterprise, strategic deterrence, or major defense acquisition programs.| Familiarity with ACAT I programs, portfolio governance, Nunn-McCurdy recovery, acquisition lifecycle management, or weapon system sustainment.| Experience with organizational health assessments, maturity models, target operating models, transformation playbooks, or human capital strategy.| Certifications such as PMP, Prosci, CMC, DAWIA, FAC-C, FAC-COR, Lean Six Sigma, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or Executive Coaching Certification.| Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Excel, Power BI, and virtual collaboration tools.
