Ascension LLC is seeking a Technical Writer with expertise in federal data reporting and analytics deliverables to support the U.S. Department of Education’s TRIO Data Analysis and Support effort. This role is critical to ensuring that complex statistical analyses, data quality findings, and performance results are translated into clear, accurate, and accessible reports for both internal decision-makers and public stakeholders.
The ideal candidate brings experience supporting federal data programs, statistical reporting, and Section 508-compliant documentation, and understands how to transform highly technical content into polished deliverables aligned with federal standards.
This position plays a key role in supporting Task 3 (Data Quality Analysis) and Task 5 (GPRA Reporting), ensuring all outputs meet the Department’s high expectations for clarity, accuracy, and usability.
Position Summary
The Technical Writer will support the development, editing, and delivery of data quality memoranda, longitudinal data documentation, and GPRA performance reports derived from TRIO Annual Performance Report (APR) datasets.
This role requires a detail-oriented professional who can:
- Interpret outputs from statistical analyses (SAS/SPSS/STATA)
- Translate findings into structured narratives and tables
- Ensure compliance with Section 508 accessibility standards
- Maintain consistency across multiple report series and deliverables

Key Responsibilities / Day-to-Day Activities
- Develop data quality memoranda summarizing APR data reliability and findings
- Draft and edit GPRA performance reports, including narrative and tabular outputs
- Translate statistical outputs into clear, concise, and structured written content
- Ensure all deliverables meet Section 508 accessibility requirements
- Format reports, tables, and appendices for consistency and publication readiness
- Collaborate with data analysts and project managers to interpret findings accurately
- Review and validate alignment between narrative content and supporting data tables
- Standardize templates and formatting across report series and deliverables
- Incorporate Department feedback and revisions into final deliverables
- Support development of technical documentation, codebooks, and data dictionaries
- Prepare materials suitable for public-facing web publication
- Maintain version control and document management within SharePoint or similar platforms
