Ascension LLC is seeking a Data Analyst specializing in longitudinal data and federal program reporting to support the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Postsecondary Education (OPE) in analyzing TRIO program data. This role is critical to ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and usability of Annual Performance Report (APR) data used to assess program performance, inform policy decisions, and support Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA) reporting.

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, analytical professional with experience managing large-scale datasets, performing data validation and transformation, and generating actionable insights from complex federal or education data systems. This individual will play a key role in maintaining longitudinal datasets, identifying data inconsistencies, and supporting statistical reporting efforts that impact national education programs.


Position Summary

The Data Analyst will support the analysis, validation, and management of TRIO Annual Performance Report (APR) data, including longitudinal dataset maintenance, data quality assessment, and reporting support. The role directly supports federal requirements to evaluate program performance, monitor grantee outcomes, and produce statistical reports for internal and external stakeholders.

This position requires hands-on expertise in data cleaning, merging, record matching, and trend analysis across multi-year datasets, as well as the ability to work with large-scale administrative data collections.


Day-to-Day Activities

  • Perform data cleaning, validation, and transformation on large APR datasets
  • Merge and append annual datasets into longitudinal data files across multiple years
  • Conduct record matching and reconciliation using unique identifiers and supporting fields
  • Identify and flag data inconsistencies, anomalies, and integrity issues
  • Analyze trends and patterns across multi-year student-level and program-level data
  • Support development of data quality memoranda and reporting outputs
  • Generate datasets and outputs compatible with SPSS, SAS, STATA, or similar tools
  • Assist in preparation of match files for future APR data collection cycles
  • Collaborate with analysts and program staff to interpret data and validate findings
  • Maintain documentation for data structures, transformations, and methodologies
  • Support GPRA reporting by preparing aggregated metrics and performance indicators
  • Ensure compliance with data security, privacy, and federal data handling requirements
