Ascension LLC is seeking a Transportation Planner who will play a critical role in supporting multimodal transportation planning initiatives, land use analysis, and data-driven program delivery for state and local government clients. This role is essential to ensuring that transportation systems are planned, analyzed, and optimized in alignment with regional mobility goals, infrastructure investments, and policy frameworks.

Summary of the Contractor Role
The Transportation Planner provides professional-level technical support under the direction of a Project Manager or Principal Planner, contributing to the development, analysis, and execution of transportation planning initiatives.
This role supports the client’s need to:
- Analyze transportation systems and land use interactions
- Develop multimodal transportation strategies
- Evaluate travel trends, freight movement, and system performance
- Support planning studies and policy development
- Deliver data-driven recommendations to improve transportation outcomes
The ideal candidate brings a balance of technical expertise, critical thinking, and proactive problem-solving, with the ability to:
- Work independently with minimal supervision

Tools & Technologies May Include:
- GIS Tools (ArcGIS, QGIS)
- Data Analysis Tools (Excel, Power BI, Tableau)
- Transportation Modeling Tools (as applicable)

- Survey and data collection platforms
This role directly supports data analysis, program planning, reporting, and stakeholder-informed decision-making, aligning with Ascension’s strengths in analytics, process improvement, and program support .
Day-to-Day Activities
- Analyze transportation, land use, and demographic data to support planning studies
- Prepare technical reports, planning documents, and data summaries
- Interpret transportation system performance metrics, trends, and forecasts
- Support development of multimodal transportation plans and strategies
- Conduct research on best practices, policies, and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with project teams, engineers, and stakeholders to gather inputs
- Develop maps, charts, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate findings
- Assist in stakeholder engagement activities, workshops, and meetings
- Evaluate freight movement patterns, travel demand, and infrastructure impacts
- Maintain organized documentation, datasets, and analysis outputs
- Contribute to continuous process improvement and data standardization efforts
