Ascension LLC is seeking an experienced Program Manager / Accessibility Lead to serve as the single accountable technical authority responsible for overseeing accessibility compliance, accessibility assessments, remediation guidance, and training support for a government client. This role combines contract management, strategic advisory services, accessibility testing leadership, and quality assurance oversight to ensure digital content and documentation meet federal accessibility standards.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in WCAG 2.1 AA remediation, document accessibility, and accessibility testing frameworks, along with the ability to guide teams and stakeholders in implementing sustainable accessibility practices across organizational workflows.
This position is critical to the overall success of the engagement because the Program Manager / Accessibility Lead will serve as the primary customer interface, ensuring accessibility assessments, compliance reviews, training, and remediation guidance are delivered effectively and aligned with Section 508, WCAG 2.1 AA, PDF/UA, and ADA standards.
The selected professional will operate at both strategic and operational levels, advising leadership on accessibility best practices while also directing the technical assessment and remediation process for digital content.
Summary of the Contractor Role
The Program Manager / Accessibility Lead provides leadership, coordination, and technical oversight for accessibility compliance activities supporting federal accessibility requirements.
This individual will oversee accessibility assessments, lead the development of written findings and remediation recommendations, coordinate accessibility testing processes, and provide guidance on improving accessibility within business workflows and document production practices.
The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented and strategic professional capable of managing multiple priorities while serving as the client’s trusted advisor on accessibility compliance. The role requires strong communication skills, the ability to translate technical accessibility standards into actionable recommendations, and the ability to collaborate effectively with program stakeholders, content creators, and technical teams.
The candidate must be self-driven and highly organized, able to operate effectively in an environment where priorities may evolve as accessibility assessments and remediation needs are identified. This role requires someone who can anticipate compliance risks, develop practical solutions, and guide stakeholders through implementation.
The Program Manager / Accessibility Lead will utilize accessibility tools and methodologies including CommonLook, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Word accessibility tools, WCAG testing methodologies, and DOJ audit validation frameworks to evaluate content and ensure compliance with accessibility standards.
Position Day-to-Day Activities
The Program Manager / Accessibility Lead will perform the following activities in support of the client:
- Lead accessibility assessment efforts for digital documents, websites, and electronic communications to ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 standards.
- Serve as the primary contract and customer interface responsible for coordinating project activities, reporting status, and managing deliverables.
- Conduct accessibility testing and validation using industry-standard tools such as CommonLook, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Microsoft Office accessibility checkers.
- Develop detailed accessibility assessment reports outlining findings, remediation recommendations, and compliance gaps.
- Provide strategic advisory support on accessibility best practices, accessibility governance, and compliance strategies.
- Evaluate internal workflows and document production processes to identify opportunities to improve accessibility compliance.
- Oversee quality assurance processes to ensure accessibility testing results and remediation guidance meet federal compliance expectations.
- Deliver accessibility training sessions for staff responsible for developing and maintaining digital content.
- Collaborate with program stakeholders, technical teams, and content creators to implement accessibility remediation strategies.
- Ensure adherence to accessibility compliance standards including WCAG, Section 508, PDF/UA, and ADA guidelines.
- Monitor service level agreements (SLAs) and project timelines to ensure timely delivery of accessibility assessments and reports.
- Provide ongoing support and recommendations to strengthen accessibility maturity within the organization.
