Ascension LLC is seeking a meticulous, process-driven, and accessibility-aware Quality Assurance (QA) Support Specialist to support the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC Water) Corporate Website Re-Design initiative.

This role is critical to ensuring that WSSC’s public-facing, mission-critical website functions reliably, securely, and accessibly for more than 1.9 million customers across Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties. The QA Support Specialist will validate CMS functionality, content migration accuracy, accessibility compliance (WCAG 2.1 AA), performance benchmarks, integrations, and user experience consistency before production deployment.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytically rigorous, and comfortable working in structured public-sector environments where compliance, documentation, and traceability matter. This individual must bring experience testing CMS-driven websites (Drupal, WordPress, or similar), validating accessibility standards, documenting defects clearly, and supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

This position is well-suited for professionals who:

  • Understand the risks of launching public-sector digital platforms without thorough QA
  • Appreciate the importance of accessibility and ADA compliance
  • Thrive in environments that require precision, documentation, and accountability
  • Can anticipate defects before they reach production

Summary of the Contractor Role

The QA Support Specialist supports end-to-end testing activities for WSSC’s corporate website redesign effort. This includes validating:

  • CMS configuration and administrative usability
  • Content migration completeness and formatting accuracy
  • Accessibility compliance (WCAG 2.1 AA / Section 508)
  • Cross-browser and cross-device responsiveness
  • Search functionality
  • Third-party integrations
  • Security and performance benchmarks
  • Scheduled publishing and metadata controls

The QA Support Specialist works under the direction of the Project Manager and in coordination with the CMS Developer, UX Designer, and Content Migration Specialist to ensure all deliverables meet contractual requirements prior to stakeholder approval and final launch.

This role directly supports SOW J – Testing of Final Website and related compliance-driven scope elements.

Day-to-Day / Expected Activities

The QA Support Specialist will:

  • Develop comprehensive test plans aligned to SOW requirements
  • Create detailed test cases covering CMS functionality, workflows, and permissions
  • Execute functional testing across staging and development environments
  • Validate content migration accuracy (formatting, links, images, metadata, taxonomy)
  • Perform cross-browser and cross-device testing (Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox, mobile/tablet)
  • Conduct accessibility testing using automated and manual tools (axe, WAVE, NVDA, JAWS)
  • Validate keyboard navigation, focus states, ARIA roles, and semantic structure
  • Document defects with clear replication steps, severity classification, and screenshots
  • Track issues in Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar ticketing systems
  • Retest resolved defects and validate fixes
  • Support formal User Acceptance Testing (UAT) sessions
  • Verify sitemap generation and SEO configuration
  • Validate page performance metrics (load times, Lighthouse scores)
