Ascension LLC is seeking a Journeyman Operations Research Analyst to support the United States Air Force (USAF), 608th Air Operations Center (AOC) at Barksdale AFB. This role directly supports the AOC Weapon System (WS), the senior Command and Control element of the Theater Air Control System, responsible for global strike and 24/7 operational mission execution.

We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical professional who understands operational data, mission readiness metrics, system performance evaluation, and decision-support modeling in a military or defense environment. The ideal candidate is self-driven, comfortable operating in a high-visibility environment, and capable of translating complex operational data into actionable recommendations for senior AOC leadership.

This role is critical to sustaining mission readiness, supporting C4I systems analysis, contributing to validation testing, and enhancing operational decision-making through quantitative and qualitative analysis.


Position Summary

The Journeyman Operations Research Analyst provides analytical and advisory support directly to the United States Air Force (USAF), 608th Air Operations Center (AOC) located at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana, under the contracting authority of the Air Force Installation Contracting Center (AFICC), 771 Enterprise Sourcing Squadron (771 ESS).

The Operations Research Analyst will support the 608 AOC program office by delivering quantitative analysis, modeling, system performance evaluation, and decision-support analytics to enhance operational effectiveness across AOC C4I systems, Common Operational Picture (COP) architecture, Global Command and Control System (GCCS) environments, configuration management activities, and mission readiness programs.

The analyst will work directly with the AOC Commander, Chief of AOC Systems, functional division leads, and training and Stan/Eval personnel to:

  • Analyze operational data supporting 24/7 global strike missions
  • Evaluate system validation and testing results (DT&E and OT&E)
  • Assess readiness metrics and system baseline compliance
  • Support AOC WS configuration management and operational performance reporting
  • Provide executive-level analytical briefings that inform command-level decision-making

Day-to-Day Activities

The selected candidate will:

  • Develop quantitative models to evaluate system performance and mission readiness
  • Conduct statistical analysis using structured datasets and operational logs
  • Perform Monte Carlo simulations, optimization modeling, and predictive forecasting
  • Analyze mission metrics to identify performance gaps and improvement opportunities
  • Support test and evaluation (DT&E / OT&E) events through modeling and data analysis
  • Prepare analytical reports, white papers, and briefing slides for leadership
  • Validate data integrity and ensure statistical accuracy in reporting
  • Develop dashboards and visualizations to support executive-level insights
  • Conduct cost-benefit and risk analyses for operational alternatives
  • Participate in exercise planning and post-exercise assessment reviews
  • Support configuration management documentation and analytical traceability
  • Coordinate with system administrators and technical teams to ensure modeling inputs are accurate
